Here Today, Gone Tomorrow

I have been blessed for 31 years to not have had anything stolen from me. No break-ins, no robbery, no nothing. Well, that all changed the night of Griffin's birthday party.

Remember that we are homeless, so we were spending the night in far North Dallas with my in laws. We went to Allen to visit friends and drove home in a roaring thunderstorm around 11 pm. We went to sleep and when I woke up at 7 the next morning I walked downstairs and saw Jordan and his parents staring at the front door.

This is what they were looking at...

That's right, the car I got 2 weeks prior had all the wheels and tires stolen!! This began a few crazy days of picking new tires, insurance claims, and relying on friends and Jordan's dad to install the new tires. We didn't even realize that the car couldn't be towed so all the work had to be done at the house. And to top it all off, Jordan left on a flight back to New Jersey the day we discovered the theft!

Good friends are hard to find, and we are sure blessed with Clark!

Jordan's dad worked like a tire pro!

And after....

The police officer informed me I'd be a target as long as I own this car! Crazy!!!! Here's hoping it never happens again.

Griffin's Birthday Party

We had Griffin's 5th birthday a few weeks ago. It was a Power Ranger Party and we all had a blast. I picked The Ark, which is a local indoor play place for the venue and we loved it. It was so nice because you get the whole building to yourself and can bring in your own food etc. The only downside is that you don't get any time to set up, hence the minimal decorations. But let's be real--5 year old boys don't care about decorations!!! Here are the fun pictures!

This week!

This is a big week around our house.  Jordan will be home for the weekend starting Friday, and then Saturday is Griffin's 5th birthday party!  He is totally obsessed with Power Rangers so that will be the theme of his party.

This is what will be on his cake, and I couldn't decide if I wanted chocolate or vanilla cake so we settled on both!  Griffin only eats the icing so he doesn't really care.  The hardest part of this birthday is that Griffin doesn't really "want" anything.  We might spoil him a little, and he's a super great kid, so when he does want something we usually buy it for him.  I have gotten him this Kinect game,
and some shoes that he picked out.  But I think I will wait and see what all he gets at this party and then fill in any gaps for his actual birthday on the 27th.  We are having the party at the ARK, which is an indoor play place in our area and eating tons of pizza and snacks.  I can't wait!!

It's so hard to believe we have an *almost* 5 year old!

Purple and Grey

It's official. Maybe it's because I'm in my house where I grew up, surrounded by all of my purple things. Or maybe it's because I miss my bed and this new bedding we had just bought.

Whatever the reason, I have purple and grey on the brain!!

I'm dreaming of this for our new Georgia house.

And my favorite...

Oh yes please!!!

Wonder if I could get Jordan to agree!!

Gracie girl

Our sweet Gracie is 2.5 year old now and a total ball of fun and energy.

Above you can see some of Gracie's many faces. She constantly cracks us up by making sounds, faces, singing songs and reading her books (loudly). She is a total ham and it would not surprise me at all if she is drawn to performing or drama when she grows up.

And the girl REALLY loves books. She can sit and read them forever. She asks for them in bed and as you can see falls asleep with them every night. Here's and example of her "reading."

YouTube Video

We love you so much sweet girl and we hope you never lose your funny personality, sense of humor, or love for literature!
