Weekend

Our weekend FLEW by!

We picked Jordan up at the airport Friday evening. The kids love doing this. Of course seeing Dad is awesome but they also love to people watch and try to guess when he will walk out of the door.

Saturday my mom was so helpful and watched the kids alllllll day. Jordan and I cleaned, sorted, gave away, and pre-packed before the packers come Wednesday.

Opa came that morning to help!
He read to grace a bit before she was off to moms.

I found tons of Dave and Busters tickets and cards among our things so we took the kids there Saturday night. It was great fun!

Griffin saw hockey for the first time.

Then he won a huge jackpot!

We have another day today of fun then back to our normal weekly routine!

And the big stuff happens this week! Packers on Wednesday and movers of Friday.

Dentist

Both kiddos went to the dentist yesterday. They love it there and had great fun on the slide in the waiting room and in the movie theater waiting area.

Gracie practicing her dentist mouth.

Griffin in the big boy chair. He's the one in the middle.

Both kids had no cavities and got great report cards for brushing. Gracie now also has all her molars which she didn't 6 months ago. So proud of my cavity free kiddos!

Travel Goals for 2013

To be honest, I'm not a good traveler. I don't really enjoy sightseeing. But I do like to relax, unplug, and enjoy my loved ones. Since this is the last year before real school and probably the last time I don't feel guilty leaving the kids at home with family I hope to go a few fun places this year.

1. Sea World- Griffin asks ALL the time to go back. So I'm working towards a march trip there before we leave Texas.

2. San Francisco- This one is already purchased and booked but we are making a long weekend trip for Valentines Day/my 31st (yikes) birthday.

3. The Beach! - I don't care which one - Destin, a cruise, Dominican Republic. Anywhere! I'm thinking July/August to celebrate Jordan 's 30th! And I'm hoping some friends will join!!

4. Atlanta for house looking one more time and then Dallas for visiting this summer.

5. New York - I really, really want to visit Jo while he is working there. I'm aiming for March and thinking about bringing griffin. Lots of planning and decisions though.

And that's about it. Do you have any travel wishes or plans this year?

And because I like every blog to have a picture here are some funny morning faces.

Way down yonder on the Chattahoochee...

2012 was a good year for the Lugar family.  We were blessed beyond measure with good health, good times with family, a job promotion, healthy and happy thriving children, and big changes on the horizon.
That's right!  We are moving to Georgia!!  It's been a long time in the making, with many plans being made and changed time and time again.  Jordan spent the last quarter of 2012 living and working in Arlington, VA and we had a wonderful visit with him in Washington D.C.
Our house here in Texas is under contract and set to close in 2 short weeks. We are now in the cleaning, selling, and packing portion of the process and I must say it's probably my least favorite part so far of all of this.

Jordan and I made a quick trip to Atlanta this past week to look at neighborhoods, schools, and houses.  I think it was really worthwhile as it helped me to visualize everything, decide on neighborhoods and narrow our search.  We don't NEED to live there until April 1st so we have a little time to be picky and decide.  Luckily my mom has agreed to house us in the meantime so Griffin can finish out the school year.  I decided that this year before Kindergarten is important and I didn't want to pull him away from his school and friends in the middle of the year.

So onto neighborhoods--we've narrowed our search to Peachtree Corners, a section of Norcross, or Roswell
I have a whole analysis of Georgia towns and how they relate to Dallas but I will save that for another post. ;)

While we were there we ate REALLY well.  We stopped at Flip Burger Bar first, which is a Top Chef restaurant.  SO GOOD.
We also ate at Outback, Moe's *my new favorite place*, Tarahumata Mexican Grill *salsa tastes like LOS ARCOS!*, and the Atlanta Bread Company.  We stayed at the W and enjoyed some relaxing times before the storm of change and moving hits.

I am thinking I will have a lot of downtime once we are homeless ;) so I will hope to update this more.  I hope you and yours had a fantastic 2012 and that 2013 holds as much adventure as it does for us!
