Haircut!

I finally broke down and took Griff to get his second hair cut. We all loved the curls, but they were starting to get out of control! He got so sweaty every time he slept and it was starting to grow in the shape of a mullet! He still hated the hair cut and especially the clippers. The stylist commented that his hair has a natural wave and is very thick. Yep, he gets that from me! :)
Before
After! Such a little man!

We were supposed to have our 15 month checkup this morning but they called to say that Dr. M had some sort of family emergency so we are now rescheduled for next week.

Weekend Fun!

This weekend started off with our good friends Kyle and Kathryn bringing their precious baby over for a cookout. Brayden was born two months ago and is so cute and chunky! Griffin was never a big baby so it was so different to hold Brayden! We weren't sure how Griffin would react to a baby since he is never around any. (None of our friends have babies yet, but thankfully two are pregnant! yay!!) He did awesome! He stuck his finger out for Brayden to hold and held hands with him for a while. He also pointed to him and said, "baby!" Sooo cute!

Holding hands.

Getting an up close view.

Trying to climb in with the baby!

So sweet!
Then Saturday night we were off to Chris and Laura's in Allen for another cookout and fireworks. Their backyard pretty much backs up to the park where Allen has it's July 4th celebration. There was another couple there with their 2 year old and 8 month old. It was so much fun being around babies all weekend and gave us a little bit of baby fever! ha ha. Chris smoked all this meat in his smoker and it was amazing!! The fireworks were great too and now I can't wait for this coming weekend!

On Sunday Griffin feel asleep in the car on the way home. Church falls during his morning nap time so he is always a very sleepy boy on Sunday afternoon! Momma took him to bible class and stayed in there the whole time with him. She said he did awesome and this is the first Sunday that the ladies in the nursery said he didn't cry once! YAY!
After the nap! All smiles!
Then Sunday afternoon Granny came over and brought me this amazing new table and chairs!!! I couldn't love it any more! It is perfect with the windows since it is hexagonal shaped! The chairs are 35 year old Tell City Company chairs...So nice! Now I am on the hunt for the perfect blue cushions to finish it off. Thank you Granny!!!!
I also ordered two bookcases (on a huge sale) for our bedroom and one for Griffin's room. They should be here this week so we can finally finish unpacking our boxes!

We then went over to Jordan's parent's house on Sunday night to see all of Gari's pictures from Israel. We only made it to 80 of 2000 so we will have to go back soon. Steve cooked out hamburgers and it was a nice evening. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

More Updating!

Thursday night Jordan came home in a super productive mood! We finished the downstairs bath and the kitchen faucet!! The whole downstairs is now finished except the fireplace!

New faucet, towel bar, and toilet paper holder-all Venetian bronze.
The beautiful flowers Granny made...and new towels are coming.
He really wanted to help!
All finished!! We love the two handle looks and it looks perfect with our
stainless appliances!
I am so happy that our updating quest is almost done downstairs!! Now we have some big purchases/decisions to make. I want new countertops, to redo the upstairs bath, and Jordan wants sprinklers!! So lots to come! We are off to Allen tonight for the 4th of July party there. Griff is spending the night with his Granna so it will be nice to have a night out.

Peek-A-Boo

Last night Jordan and I talked about the possibility that Griffin would yank on the curtains etc. I said probably not because he never goes in the dining room. Well, when I couldn't find Griffin while I was making snack I went in there to look....
This is what I saw!
Sweet Boy!!

Curtains!

I finally picked and ordered curtains! They came in and I couldn't be more pleased! They really tie the room together and make it look finished. Jordan helped me measure and re-measure and drill the holes in the walls. He is such a good helper!

One window and the hutch
View from the front door
On a side note I am very proud to announce we are bottle free!! To my shock there hasn't been any crying or asking for a baba! He just takes his sippy and drinks. He is even still bringing it to me and saying more when he runs out! I guess this time was successful because he was really ready! Yay!

Whew....

What a fast and furious weekend! We had so much fun though seeing all sides of our families! Thanks to everyone who called, texted, and emailed to check on me during my first Father's Day without my sweet Daddy. It was hard, but we all made it through!

Here is the before and after of our kitchen cabinet hardware...What a difference that makes! I have had two different people walk into our kitchen and say, "Why did people ever think gold was a good idea?" I have no idea but I am fighting to rid our house of all the terrible brass! Next up is the fireplace!

And here is sweet Griff doing what he does best before church. PLAYING his heart out! His hair is getting lighter still by the day! I love it! And when he lets me comb it I think it looks nice! Don't you?

Today is day one of Operation "No more bottles." We are going cold turkey. I know it isn't a big deal that he still drinks bottles...(I would much rather it be that than a pacifier!) but Jordan always jokes that I would let him take a bottle to kindergarten...so as of today NO MORE!!! I will keep you updated on how it goes!

Duck...Duck...

We have babies!! Ducks of course! I have blogged numerous times about our duck friends that welcomed us into this house. She began nesting a week and a half ago and today...there are 5 babies!! I learned all about what to do and we built them a ramp so they could get in and out of the pool since the babies can't fly yet. Well, I guess we have not so smart ducks, because they ignored the ramp and could not figure out how to get out. So finally when the momma jumped out Jordan scooped out the babies with the pool net. They are all now happily back in the nest being sat on!

My Almost 15 Month Old...

All about Griffin:
Things he says:
-duck, dog, Izzie, Nana, dad, mom, done, more, baba, ball, blue, moo, back, bye bye, book, mine, that, boom, melmo (elmo) and balloon.
Things he does:
-Can point to the following body parts when asked: eyes, ears, mouth, foot, belly button (we are still working on nose)
-When asked what a cow says he says "mooo"
-Gives hugs and kisses when asked for them.
-He can correctly point to the color blue consistently. Working on red and yellow. He only gets that about 50% of the time.
-Throws balls, runs, jumps, walks backwards etc.
-Can follow simple and complex commands. (ex. pick up that towel and take it to daddy.)
-Is back to taking 2 one and a half hour naps per day. The doctor says to leave him on this schedule until 18 months if he will let me! Sleeps 11 hours at night. Has 3 meals and 2 snacks per day.
This is fresh from a nap Griffin
We still have our curls!
Thanks for reading! This is mostly for my documentation but I know the family will want to know! :)

Happy Birthday Granny!

Yesterday was my Granny's birthday! She is so sweet that the day before her big day she came over and cleaned and organized my closet and planted these GORGEOUS flowers in my front flower beds! What would I do without her?

We are celebrating A LOT this weekend! On Saturday we are going over to Granny's to celebrate her birthday and Saturday night we are going to see a musical. Then Sunday we are celebrating Father's Day with Steve and then going to my Grandpa and Grandma's for dinner. Whew! So no house stuff this weekend!

Here is a list of things that I want done by July 11:
-Faucet Changed in Kitchen
-Fireplace painted
-Kitchen hardware installed
-Curtains hung in dining room
-Flower Beds in Back Yard done
-Griffin's room painted

Then in August:
-Countertops
-Sprinkler System
-Bedside table and tv or bookshelf purchased for master bedroom
-Curtains for living room
-Estimate for building patio cover and possibly installing that

Yep, did you get that all honey?? Sounds like a lot of work! All of the July items are purchased so at least no money needs to be spent on that!

I had 4 goals on my New Years resolution list. So far 3 of them are done! So we will work on that last one so I will have had a successful year! How are you doing on your goals?

Great Weekend!

We had a great weekend! It was filled with WONDERFUL news, fun friends, and good food! What more could we ask for?

We started off Friday with lots of playing and then dinner with Kevin and back to our house for a few hours of catch up. Griff loves Kevin...especially since he let Griffin play with his sunglasses!

Then Saturday was lots of swimming and a fun pool party and dinner at our favorite La Sierra with our usual group of friends. We all missed Jc and Dabney though! I didn't manage to get any pictures of anyone but we had TONS of fun! Gari and Steve also visited and took us to lunch. No pictures of that though! Maybe Gari will send some soon!
We celebrated flag day and flew the flag!
Sunday Griffin wasn't feeling very well so he and Jordan stayed home from church. He is still on amoxicillan so I am not convinced that his strep has fully cleared up. He seems to be doing much better now though. You can see the tears in his eyes but he is trying to smile!
Where is Griffin?? Still one of our favorite games!
I hope everyone has a great week!

Sounds of the Storm

Today my normally very quiet neighborhood is abuzz with the sounds of chainsaws. Here are a few of the downed trees on our street.
